What is the WASSCE statement of the Result?
Some students do not know that the result they’re given immediately after the WAEC result is published is called statement of result. It is not the original WAEC result.
A statement of result is issued to the student in the name of the school the student wrote WAEC in. It contains the grades or marks the student scored in each subject written in the exam.
Statement of result is also known as notification of result. The statement of result does not carry so much information or details of the candidate.
How To Write Request Application Letter For Collection Of Original WAEC certificate Online
TO request your WAEC original certificate, you’ll go through their certificate portal. This was newly introduced to make the process seamless.
On this certificate portal, private candidates can request for their certificates. The requested certificates are delivered to any WAEC office the candidate chooses. At the pick-up station which is a WAEC office, the candidates will be required to provide a valid means of identification.
Take note; the certificate processing takes between 10 and 30 days.
Candidates must pay a processing fee in order to collect the original certificate. The exact amount is not mentioned on the website, but from sources, we gathered, it is around #7,900. According to the website, the amount to be paid varies in state and year.
They no longer receive offline payment. eBillsPay has been suspended. You can pay with your card online. Payments made offline may not be processed.
Once the student lands on the certificate website, there are two basic options: Check Status and Request Certificate.
When you click Check Status, a new tab will open where you’ll be required to input your exam number and reference number.
However, when you click Request Certificate, it will show an interface where you’ll enter exam details, which are exam diet, examination year, and examination number. Exam diet is where you’ll choose if it’s for a private candidate’s first sheet or a private candidate’s second sheet. The examination year started at 2019.

How do I pay for the Certificate?
The payment option available on the portal is card payment.
From the menu, click on Check Status.
A new page will be displayed, enter your Exam Number and Reference Number, then click on the Check Status button.
On the Check Status page, click Make Payment at the bottom of the page.
On the displayed page, provide your payment details and follow the prompts.
After a successful payment, you will receive an email confirming the payment.
How long will it take to process my Certificate?
Certificate processing may take 10 to 30 days.
How do I collect my Certificate?
When making a requisition for the certificate, you’ll be prompted to input a collection location, that’s the place to pick the certificate from.
NB: The certificate will be made available 10 working days after confirmation of payment.

How do I make payment offline?
Visit the WAEC office closest to you. You will need the following details when you visit the office
- Exam number
- Exam type/diet
- Exam year
- A valid means of Identification: ID Card
They’ll process it offline and give you the certificate at that office.
Important Note
You have to know that your WAEC certificate can only be issued once, so if you lose it, you won’t have the opportunity to get a new certificate. Therefore, you must keep your certificate safe, and secure.
Can I Collect A Digital Original WAEC Result Online and send to an Institution?
Yes, go to https://www.waec.org/. A pop up message will ask what category of user you are. Certificate Access is for students who want to view, download, and share their certificates, while Certificate Conformation is for institution’s that want to verify a student’s certificate. As an individual user, click certificate access, learn more, login or create account, then follow the prompts. You can share the original WAEC certificate directly with an institution.
